The Canaan Baptist Church Benevolence Ministry

Heading 1

All they asked was that we should continue to remember the destitute,

the very thing I had been eager to do all along.  –Galatians 2:10

The Canaan Baptist Church Benevolence Ministry has been used to touch and change many lives to help individuals and families within our congregation or community.

This Ministry follows biblical principles of Pastoral Care, the love of Christ made personal, and Benevolence, which are acts of kindness and generosity within the context of financial wisdom.

The Benevolence Ministry is designed to assist and minister to those in need during a time of crisis or transition.

Canaan’s Mission is to serve as a vanguard of liberation, faith and empowerment through our Christian witness by "Impacting the Human Condition."

The Benevolence Ministry began at the historic Eighth Street Baptist Church many years ago. With the blessing of the congregation, Pastor Bullock and the Deacon Board realigned its focus on the following areas:

  1. Support the needs of the church membership per the criteria.

  2. Support the needs of community members per the criteria.

  3. Support of the National Baptist Convention USA, Inc specifically Home Missions and the Lott Carey Foreign Missions Convention in the areas of disaster relief and aid upon request from our denominational leadership.

  4. Support special projects per the request of the Pastor.
